This installment of our Postcards from Detroit tile series features Campus Martius, the favorite downtown meeting place of Detroiters, located at the point of origin of Detroit’s original 1805 city plan.
Designed by Pewabic designers Genevieve Sylvia and Dave McGee in collaboration with the Downtown Detroit Partnership, the Campus Martius tile features the most recognizable images of the park including the Soldiers-Sailors Monument, the Woodward Fountain, and some of the iconic buildings that compose Detroit’s skyline; the deco Guardian Building, the Albert Kahn designed Qube Building, and the mid-century modern One Woodward.
